At the reef, Orin was rescued by a family of dolphins who continued to raise him. While living with the dolphins, Orin learned to swim and developed his ability to talk to sea life. A few years later, Orin was found by a lighthouse keeper named Arthur Curry, whose name Orin would take as his own.

Orin, now Arthur Curry, lived with the lighthouse keeper for years until he set out on his own. Arthur wandered the country until he eventually returned to the seas and discovered Atlantis. Atlantis was ruled under a dictatorial government and Arthur was sent to prison where he learned the ways of Atlantis.

Arthur escaped and made his way back to the surface, where he ended up assisting fellow hero The Flash. Flash gave Arthur the name “Aquaman” and Arthur became one of the founding members of the Justice League.

Arthur returned to Atlantis and took his rightful place as king. Aquaman would go on to marry a woman named Mera, and took Aqualad as a partner.
