At first, the Surfer only lead Galactus to uninhabited planets, but soon Galactus removed the Surfer’s restraint and any world was fair game. Eventually, Surfer came to Earth with the intention of making it Galactus’ next meal.

On Earth, The Fantastic Four fought to stop the Silver Surfer and his master. The Surfer was knocked off a building by The Thing and was found by Alicia Masters, The Thing’s girlfriend. Touched by Alicia’s caring, the Surfer turned on Galactus and helped the Fantastic Four stop him.

Angered at Surfer’s betrayal, Galactus banished him to Earth. Unable to return to his home, The Silver Surfer wandered the Earth, helping the Fantastic Four on many occasions. While on Earth, the Surfer faced the threats of Doctor Doom and Mephisto, and sometimes even Galactus himself. Surfer would even form a friendship with Doctor Strange and join the team The Defenders.
