The adventures featured in Star Trek details the voyages of the Starship Enterprise; a vessel of Starfleet that has been tasked to explore new worlds and civilizations as part of its five year mission. When the voyages of the Enterprise first began James T. Kirk had recently become Starfleet’s youngest and most promising captain. Brash, cunning, and courageous; James Kirk was the perfect man to command the Enterprise on its five year mission. ...Show More
Although Kirk did have a tendency to go against Starfleet regulations he remained a leader to be respected and a hero to be admired. He would form lasting friendships with his crew members as his leadership skills and courage would prove him to be a terrific captain with the crew’s best interests at heart.
To help balance the impetuous decisions of Captain Kirk there was Mr. Spock who served as first officer. A seasoned veteran of Starfleet, Mr. Spock had served as first officer on the Enterprise for eleven years before command was given to James Kirk. Spock’s purpose on the ship was to utilize Vulcan logic and an emotionally detached perspective to assist in discretionary command decisions of the Enterprise. Although the views of Kirk and Spock may have been radically different at times, they were still able to form a strong bond of friendship and trust.
On the opposite “emotional” spectrum of Mr. Spock was Dr. Leonard McCoy, the chief medical officer of the Enterprise. Dr. McCoy was posted to the Enterprise the same time as Captain Kirk. The two would quickly form a strong friendship that bordered on becoming brotherly. Unlike Mr. Spock, who provides Kirk with an emotionally detached perspective, Dr. McCoy acts as Kirk’s conscience and confidant when discussing matters pertaining to the crew and the Enterprise.
Other crew members include the mathematics prodigy Pavel Chekov, chief engineer Montgomery Scott, helmsman Hikaru Sulu, and chief communications officer Nyota Uhura. The specific duty of each crewmember can be easily distinguished by the color of their uniform. The gold uniform belongs to commanders and helmsmen. The blue uniform belongs to the science and medical personnel. Engineering, operations, and security personnel wear the red uniforms. Together they form the crew of the Starship Enterprise. Each of the crewmembers would prove to be essential in the adventures of the Enterprise as they encountered hostile planets and enemies. Some of these villains include the warrior race of Klingons and the tyrant Khan Noonien Singh.
But despite all the obstacles that were presented before the Enterprise the crew would always prevail due to the courage and flawless leadership of Captain James T. Kirk. Along with his officers Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy, they would lead the Enterprise and “boldly go where no man has gone before”! You too can boldly go where no man has gone, by purchase one of our Star Trek t-shirts, apparel or merchandise.
